Real Madrid v Bayern Munich (+1 handicap) @ $1.70

The Bernabeu, 4.45am Wednesday

After seeing the first tie, it could have easily been the Germans that walked away with the biccies. Madrid, although churning out results in the Champions League, are finding themselves in some close encounters and have proven that they definitely are beatable. I can’t see Bayern getting beaten by more than two goals here and a gentlemen’s $1.70 gets us off to a good start in tackling a three-day European multi. Both teams rested a host of first team players in their respective previous ties to concentrate on this fixture. Madrid’s home form has been patchy, losing four of their last 14 at the Bernabeu and the lads from Munich will fancy themselves to overcome a 2-1 deficit albeit needing to score 2 on the away goals ruling. The Bavarians have won 13 of their last 14 away trips, amassing 44 goals in the process, proving that they can beat anyone, anywhere. The +1 handicap also gives us a nice buffer for the draw where I think we might end up in a 2-2. Madrid can be one of the most devastating counter attacking teams on the planet and Bayern will be forced to take the game to the Spaniards – this should leave plenty of chances for both sides. – Big Show

Edit: After some further thinking  and something just wasn’t sitting right. Call it punters intuition. I don’t think 17 cents is worth going against a BTTS and over 2.5 as you can never discount a Ronaldo led Madrid. I’m moving to BTTS and over 2.5 @ $1.53. If you’re a gambling man I would like at BTTS in the first half at $3.30.

Prediction: 2-2

Roma v Liverpool (win and BTTS) @ $3.60

Stadio Olimpico, 4.45am Thursday

Roma has been in this exact position in the previous round against a superior opponent. But I just can’t see them winning this leg. Liverpool’s front 3 has arguably been the best front 3 in the world this season and this match is perfectly suited to their lightning counter attacks. Roma will score, but by pouring forward they will be susceptible at the back, which is where Liverpool will capitalise. I can see the Egyptian prince banging in a couple here. – Le Professor

Prediction: 1-2

Atletico Madrid v Arsenal (BTTS and under 3.5) @ $3.30

Wanda Metropolitano, 5.05am Friday

I think this game is pretty straight forward, both teams will endeavour to be disciplined over the first 60 minutes to not lose the tie. Without Simeone, Atletico will defend for their lives and look to counter if opportunities present but with a 0-1 away win they will sit extremely deep for long parts of the game. Arsenal will be cagey early in the game and look to craft out chances without committing too many men forward. The key here, is that no matter who scores first the other team will need to score to come level, I think this goal will come in the second half leaving little time for this tie to blow out. I personally think this will end 1-1 and go into ET, but 3.5 gives us an extra goal buffer if there’s an early one. COYG. – Conservative Dave

Prediction: 1-1

Salzburg v Marseille (BTTS over 2.5) @ $1.95

Red Bull Arena, 5:05am Friday

Okay fellas, last in worst dressed but I actually don’t mind this game. After a comfortable 2-0 win at home, Marseille are in pole position in this tie. They’ve been in top form of late and after resting a few key players on the weekend they’ll be firm favourites to progress. Salzburg will have other ideas. In the home leg of their previous European fixture Salzburg scored a resounding 4-1 win against a strong Lazio side. This result will definitely be in the front of their mind and I’m sure they’ll be confident of providing an upset. As Marseille only really need an away goal to put this one to bed neither team are going be afraid of going forward. This one could go either way but I’m confident they’ll be goals at both ends. – Yogi

Prediction: 2-2
