Spotlight Multi Big Show

Newcastle     Arsenal

Newcastle v Arsenal (win and over 1.5) @ $2.30

St James Stadium, 12.00am Sunday

If you’re going to make the effort to stay up for the midnight game to cheer on our boys then I’m going to reward you by including Arsenal in this week’s multi. It’s going to take some time to settle under Emery but things are starting to click in the final third. Laca has made a solid case to start and was more than sharp in front of goal last time out and he will be looking to build on his partnership with Auba.

Shelvey is in doubt for the Maggies and he’ll be a big loss as he is the fulcrum that keeps their midfield ticking. With the new found press of Arsenal, Newcastle might have a tough time of it trying to play through. This will keep Mustafi and Sokratis busy in the air as they look for Rondon or Joselu up top – which should see us dominate possession. Newcastle haven’t been awful by any means and have had a pretty rough start to the fixture list, losing 2-1 to Chelsea, City and Spurs so they will make a game of this.

Emery will be going to the Tyne to take all three points, especially if we want to keep the pace, so expect an entertaining game where I think Arsenal will leak one as per usual. Torreira to start, big game from the lad and Ozil to have the ball on a string.

Prediction: 1 – 3

Swansea     Nottingham Forest

Swansea (win) v Notts Forest @ $2.25

Liberty Stadium, 12.00am Sunday

As is the case with a lot of Championship games, there’s hectic value here. The Swans are coming off a great win at Millwall where they played 85 minutes with 10 men, soaked up pressure and made the most of their chances to grab an equaliser and then a winner in the 85th minute. This should fill the Welsh lads with an abundance of confidence and now back on home soil, will be wanting to put together back-to-back wins. In a huge boost for Swansea, centre-back Joe Rodon looks to be fully fit and will slot back into the starting 11 where we has been impressive this term, forming a solid partnership with Mike van der Hoorn.

Graham Potter will want to ensure his lads are there or thereabouts come the end of a long Championship football season and this is a fixture where they will want to secure the 3 points at home. Still no Bony, no worries, McBurnie is on fire and will bag another one here.

Prediction: 2 – 0

Real Sociedad     Barcelona

Real Sociedad v Barcelona (win and over 1.5) @ $1.57

Anoeta, 12.15am Sunday

After looking at this leg early in the week, Barca were paying $1.57 on the nose. They have now come into $1.40 and rightfully so. I’ll stretch this out a fraction with over 1.5 but ultimately wanting to lock this in as a bit of a gimme. Yes Barca do have a Champions League game the following week but their squad depth is strong enough to not be of concern for Valverde. On top of this, it’s early in the season and it’s important that Barca maintain momentum so I don’t see the foot coming off the gas here.

Barca don’t have an amazing record at Anoeta but they’ve scored 13 in their last 4 games against Sociedad so I’m predicting more of the same. If you’re watching Arsenal, it’s worth flicking over to watch the clinic on display during half time. Dembele is hitting his strides and overall, the Barca powerhouse is just going to be too much on the day.

Prediction: 0 – 3

Napoli     Fiorentina

Napoli (win) v Fiorentina @ $1.62

Stadio San Paolo, 2.00am Sunday

Napoli suffered a heavy defeat last timeout against Sampdoria that included a Quagliarella worldie. Napoli still carved out chance after chance with 18 shots on goal and were very unlucky to not get on the scoresheet. Back on home soil, big Carlo will want to get back in the winners circle and I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s some rotation with Hamsik, Mertens and Callejon back in the starting side.

Fiorentina are 2 from 2 but that includes dispatching a hapless Chievo 6 – 1. Chiesa is the man to watch out for, the youngster full of creativity and even end product from wide right. At the end of the day, Napoli have too much quality and it should be a relatively convincing win at home.

Prediction: 2 – 0

Borussia Monchengladbach

Borussia Monchengladbach v Schalke (BTTS) @ $1.62

Borussia-Park, 2.30am Sunday

Schalke are without a point in their opening fixtures and Gladbach are flying high, yet to be beaten. This doesn’t paint the whole picture for the Royal Blues as they registered 16 shots in their 2-0 loss to Hertha Berlin and bagged one in a close encounter with Wolfsburg where they snatched a 94th minute winner.

After finishing in second place last year, expectations will be on Tedesco’s Schalke to get something from this game and will stick to their naturally attacking style of football which will weigh in nicely for a BTTS as Monchengladbach last drew blanks in April this year. The home side have a lot of attacking talent up front but it’s hard to pick a winner here so we are going to go with goals.

Prediction: 2 – 2

Everton     West Ham

Everton v West Ham (BTTS) @ $1.62

Goodison Park, 1.00am Monday

Initially I liked Everton to win @ $2.00 against a dismal West Ham but their injury concerns worry me and West Ham do have enough quality with the likes of Felipe Anderson, Arnautovic and our boy Jack to possibly grab a surprise result. As with all new managers, Pellegrini’s men will need some time to gel and they will have a big opportunity to do so against a depleted Everton. The Hammers did lose against Wolves last time out but they managed 13 shots on goal so they’ve got it in them to bag one here.

After seeing Richarlison score a brace for Brazil during the break, $2 for the win seemed like a golden egg, but the boy from the favelas will be serving the last match of his suspension this weekend. Both Coleman and Calvert-Lewin went down injured during their respective International fixtures, who will join; Yerry Mina, Andre Gomes, James McCarthy, Jagielka, Keane, Walcott and Gueye on the sidelines – heavy days for the Toffees. Bernard could get a start here with Everton’s attack very light, needing support for Cenk Tosun.

I don’t often like to go for 6 leg multis but I’d earmarked this fixture earlier in the week so I’ve committed and now want to just get something from it and hopefully bring it home on Monday morning.

Prediction: 1 – 1

$20 Multi @ 36.25 = $725
