Betting tips, soccer previews and predictions
Roma v Lazio (BTTS & over 2.5) @ $1.85
Stadio Olimpico, 11.00pm Saturday
The Rome derby is one of the most fiery derbies in football. Both these teams will be looking to get a win here and ensure that they stay within touching distance of the top 2. Roma have been mightily disappointing so far this season. Lazio haven’t had the greatest starts either, which in my view will result in both teams going for the win.
Roma have scored 11 but leaked in 9, whilst Lazio haven’t been as potent with 9 goals but their defence hasn’t helped them with 6 goals being shipped in. The last three derbies have resulted in 2.5 goals, which is what I’m banking on here.
Prediction: 3 – 1
Norwich (win) v Wigan @ $2.20
Carrow Road, 12.00am Sunday
Norwich have put a tough start to the season behind them and are now on a 4 game winning streak. What’s been the most impressive part of this streak is that they’ve put away strong sides like Borough and Reading. If their recent results are anything to go by, they’re a team that can play expansive when needed, but can also park a bus when necessary.
Wigan have been on fire to start the season, but I just don’t see this continuing. Yes, they have Will Grigg who’s on fire, but they can’t solely rely on the Northern Irishman to bang in goals. Their squad doesn’t have the depth to deal with the number of games why’re playing. I think that Norwich at home will just have too much fire power.
Prediction: 2 – 1
Bayer Leverkusen v Dortmund (BTTS & over 2.5) $1.80
BayArena, 2:30am Sunday
Is this the season when Munich get knocked off their perch? Lucien Favre thinks it is and with the attacking team he has built, he may be correct. Dortmund dismantled Nurnberg 7-0 and are yet to lose this season. They’re the top scorers in the league with 15 in 5 and have only let in 3 goals.
Dortmund’s start is greatly contrasted with Leverkusen’s. Leverkusen have had a rough start and are not showing the potential that their squad possesses. They started the season with 3 losses but of late have bounced back with 3 wins in a row and will be hoping that they can provide their fans win something to cheer. I’m expecting the pace of the Rastefarian Bailey and Brandt to cause some havoc to the Dortmund’s back 4.
Expect a high scoring game here lads.
Prediction: 2 – 3
Lille v Marseille (win & BTTS) @ $3.50
Stade Pierre-Mauroy, 5.00am Monday
I know what you lads are thinking “how the fuck does Le Professor come up with these humdingers?”… well let me tell you, it’s a whole lot of combing through stats and having my ear to the ground. Marseille, what a side they have. I don’t know why it took Rudi so long to kick the fellas into gear. The midfield three of Sanson, Strootman and Lopez is in my view one of the strongest midfield three in France. This is where the battle will be won. I know their front three is also impressive, but by dominating the middle block, the foundations are set for the front three.
Lille have got off to an impressive start, but other than one game, they haven’t been overly convincing. But a positive for this leg is that they’ve managed 11 goals in 7 games and at home I’m backing them to get one. The reason why I don’t think they will cause too many problems to Marseille is that they played on Friday and don’t have the depth that Marseille have.
Prediction: 1 – 3
