Leeds v Middlesbrough (under 2.5) @ $1.72
Elland Road, 4:45am Saturday
I’m here to break the curse of the Saturday morning games and I’ve gone back to where the my heart is, but I haven’t truly taken the leap to back my boys. I do believe that they will get the win here but it will be a difficult game against a well drilled Borough side.
If there is one thing that you can be certain of in football, it is that Pulis will lock up shop against any side that plays a different style of football. To be fair to old Tony, his side have racked up 9 goals in 5 games which isn’t a bad effort for the old hoof up the pitch. But the true Pulis stat is that they haven’t conceded a goal in the championship since their opening round game. This is why I’ve decided to go for under 2.5 goals. Leeds will still be attacking but I believe mad dog Bielsa will be cautious with Borough’s counter attacks and not commit every man and his dog forward! It will be a great game to watch if you’re having troubles sleeping. – Le Professor
Prediction: 1 – 0
Bologna v Inter Milan (win and over 1.5) @ $2.00
Renato dall’ara, 2:00am Sunday
I changed my mind on the over 1.5 goal margin as much as Australia did with their prime minister this week, but I just feel this Inter Milan team is too good not to turn it on soon.
With Icardi, Martinez and Perisic as attacking threats and Radja holding the middle, Inter Milan will just have to be too good against a poor Bologna. Both have taken 1 point from 6 but I believe this will play in our favour as Inter will look push for all three points. – Conservative Dave
Prediction: 0 – 2
Hoffenheim (win and over 1.5) v Freiburg @ $1.83
Wirsol Rhein-Neckar-Arena, 11:30pm Saturday
Hoffenheim find themselves 0 – 1 after kicking off the season with the hardest test in German football. While we can’t take a lot away from that result, the performance was good and like always, they played attacking football. Nagelsman has once again had to deal with losing some key players from last season in Gnabry and Uth but I expect them to once again be fighting it out at the top. The Hoff’s goal-scoring record at home was good last season and against a Freiburg side that will be once again battling relegation, they should be full of confidence. – Yogi
Prediction: 3 – 0
Anderlecht (win) v Antwerp @ $1.67
Constant Vanden Stock Stadium, 10.30pm Sunday
Anderlecht are coming off a loss away to Brugge, and to keep the pace at the top of the table they will be looking to dispatch Antwerp who have yet to be tested this season. The Purple and White haven’t been shy in front of goal and a commanding front 3 of Santini, Dimata (Fifa legend) and Musona will run amok against a side who may be riding high in the table but have managed just 4 goals in 5 games and as we progress, they will fall back down where they belong. For a bit of a lock, ~$1.70 is good value with the bookies over inflating Antwerp, especially away from home.
Belgium might be getting overrun by the gift diversity but it’ll be Antwerp’s back four succumbing to the mighty sword of Anderlecht’s continuous barrage. It’ll be 5 wins from 6 and another 3 points in the title charge. – Big Show
