Betting tips, soccer previews and predictions
Middlesbrough (win and BTTS) v West Brom @ $5.25
Riverside Stadium, 4.45am Saturday
Borough have been very consistent this year. West Brom have be strong as well but ultimately Middlesbrough at home will be too much.
*We also might have to slap Le Professor with another $10 fine for this lackluster effort
Juventus (win and BTTS) v Lazio @ $2.90
Juventus Stadium, 2.00am Sunday
It was the spaghetti and more specifically Juve who ended up stabbing us in the back late last season, AP never forgets. But it’s a new campaign and a new look Old Lady, one that includes a certain C. Ronaldo. Juve should make a mockery of the Serie A, that being said, the league has strengthened as a whole and they will be tested from time to time. Lazio are coming off a defeat to Napoli after going in front and will be dirty not to come out of the game with at least a point. If anything, they know how to find the back of the net and Juventus are dealing with the prodigal son Bonucci settling back in with Cancelo finding his feet and no Gigi in goal, you’d think Ciro will fancy his chances.
Both these sides only know one way and with the added threat of Ronaldo, this Juventus attack will prove to be too much. Dybala should find himself in more space with CR7 attracting plenty of attention, I’m backing the little Argie to get on the scoresheet. If anything, it gives us a reason to tune in and take an interest in a league that hasn’t been traditionally good to us. Goals at home for Juve at their fortress and a consolation for Ciro and his men.
Prediction: 3 – 1
Alaves v Real Betis (win) @ $2.75
Estadio Mendizorroza, Sunday 2.15am
Mark my words Le Professor, I will avenge you! After a dreadful 3 – 0 home loss to surprise packet Levante, this highly rated Betis side will be looking to bounce back quickly. After an impressive end to the season and an equally impressive preseason expectations are high and the pressure will be on.
Hard to read to much into Alaves’ first game of the season as it was a nightmare trip to the Camp Nou but I think they’ll be in a relegation scrap once again. After leaving both Leon and Sanabria on the pine against Levante, I think Setien will make a few changes and bring some of that fire power on from kickoff. New boys Canales and Portugal’s favourite BBC Willian Carvalho will look to strengthen their midfield partnership and I think they’ll be more solid this time round. Little wake up call for Betis and they’ll be too strong this weekend. – Yogi
Prediction: 0 – 2
Bordeaux v Monaco (win and under 3.5) @ $3.20
Nouveau Stade de Bordeaux, 1.00am Monday
To get a team like Monaco virtually head to head as your tier 2 is too much to pass up. Falcao up top, and a team boasting Jovitic, Gilk, Diop, Golovin and Sidibe. They drew 0 – 0 last week but were unlucky in Falcao missing a penalty. Bordeaux have loss starlet Malcom to Barca in the summer and are coming off the back of a loss to Toulouse and an important away game to Genk midweek. – Conservative Dave
