Betting tips, soccer previews and predictions
Tottenham v Liverpool (win and over 1.5) @ $2.70
Wemberly Stadium, 9.30pm Saturday
This is the leg that I almost had as my Tier 1, it’s so juicy I tossed up knocking back a few drinks and going for a drive to celebrate. Liverpool have an almost perfect side this year having fixed their defence in the summer window. This shows on the field having conceded only once this season. I think I would take Liverpool against almost every other side in the Premier League at the moment but to get them at $2.30 is the welcome to summer party starter AP needed.
Tottenham famously didn’t buy a player over the summer window and didn’t it show as they Spurs’d it up against Watford last weekend. The only reason we are getting this value is 2 weekends ago Spuds beat United 3 – 0, but I saw this more as a race to the bottom rather than two powerhouses going at it. A watchable game, this time is a rarity for the east coast based AP group, but getting $2.70 for this leg is even rarer to get lets all get around it. – Conservative Dave
Prediction: 1 – 2
Motherwell v Hearts (win and over 1.5) @ $3.10
Fir Park, 12:00am Sunday
My boys from the motherland are off to an absolute flyer, winning 4/4 and scoring 10 goals, the most in the league by some way. The Scottish Messi, Gary Naismith can’t stop scoring with new signing Ikpeazu also showing promise. If they want to keep their spot at the top of the table, a win for the boys from Edinburgh is a must. Motherwell have had an indifferent start to the season but they’ve had more goals in their games than any other team, for and against. This could either blow out or could be a hard fought 2 – 1 but either way I think there will be goals and Hearts will prevail. – Yogi
Prediction: 0 – 3
València (win and BTTS) v Real Betis @ $3.30
Estadio Mestalla, Sunday 2:30am
València have gotten off to a very slow start this season and will be looking to bounce back at home. A win here is crucial for València not to lose touch with the front runners and will be doing everything to ensure that they get their first win. Rodrigo was sharp over the international break by bagging two goals against top international sides. Whilst València will be missing our favourite leg breaker Coquelin and his fellow bash brother Kongdogbia, I still believe that they will have too much in midfield.
To be fair to Betis they have started for show he form that their squad should be displaying. Betis have made some impressive acquisitions with Carvalho, Lo Celso and Canales who compliment an already established side. Their attacking flair will be enough to bag one goal, but with many new players they will still struggle to gel. I’m backing a 2 – 1 win here for the home team.
Prediction: 2 – 1
Girona v Celta Vigo (win and over 2.5) @ $4.50
Montilivi, 5.00am Tuesday
You’ve probably missed this golden egg and I don’t blame you as it’s scheduled for Tuesday morning but I’m back high flyers Celta to go to Girona and put on a show. If you can get me to the last leg of a tier 2 then what a way to bring it in with a $4.50 leg. Celta possess arguably the best front 3 outside the top 3 or 4 teams with the unlikely Swiss Sisto, Maxi Gomez and Aspas through the middle. This was on display when they broke down Atletico and came away with a 2-0 against one of Europes strongest defensive line. Girona were fortunate to get the 3 points in an upset against Villareal and haven’t been convincing so far this season.
Girona haven’t won at home in 7 so it’s far from a fortress and this will also entice the Celts to go for the win. There could be goals at both ends but I feel that Celta have enough firepower to put a few away and take all three points to maintain their momentum near the top of the table.
Prediction: 1 – 2
