Betting tips and soccer previews and predictions

Derby FC

Reading     Derby County

Reading v Derby (win) @ $2.15

Madejski Stadium, 5.00am Saturday

I never thought I’d say this but fuck me the World Cup is finally over and the four of us can get back to 5am Championship games between Derby and Reading into mid table Scottish Premier League bangers. I want to set the tone early and dive on the grenade of the morning game. A new season, a new coach and a new fave for Conservative Dave, Derby line up with an exciting front three, and a couple of loanees from Chelsea and Liverpool looking to ply their trade under one of the greats.

A couple of quotes from their fans from preseason ‘this is the most entertaining football at pride park for many years’ and ‘this pressing high energy style may be brought undone against a quick passing team but you’re average team in the championship won’t be good enough on the ball to compete’. And while we are speaking of average teams in the Championship, we start the season with the most average of them all… Reading. This will be our first ✅ of the season and one of many from ‘Frankie and the boys’. – Conservative Dave

Prediction: 0 – 2

Hamilton     Hearts

Hamilton v Hearts (win) @ $2.05

Superseal Stadium, 12.00am Sunday

And just like that we’re back amongst it fellas. The Scottish league was a bit of a hidden gem last season and with 6 months of knowledge in the back pocket I think we’re ready to capitalise. It looks like Hearts have done some good business in the off season including the signing of three Aussie boys as they look to improve on their sixth place finish last season. They’ve been in red hot goal-scoring form lately with 5 goals in three of their last five games with new signing Ikpeazu and evergreen Steven Naismith being the most common scorers. Don’t think this will blow out like a few of their recent games but I think they should win pretty comfortably. – Yogi

Prediction: 0 – 2

Kilmarnock     St. Johnstone

Kilmarnock (win) v St. Johnstone @ $2.05

Rugby Park, 12.00am Sunday

I’ve scoured the game previews and found some good legs but Killie lit a fire deep inside me last season and I don’t think there’s a more fitting way than to tip my hat to them then backing them for a match-day one win. The streets of Kilmarnock will be a ghost town come kick off time at Rugby Park with the 18,000 seat stadium filled to the brim to the chants of ‘Boydy, Boydy, Boydy’. The 34 year old veteran bagged 24 goals last season and the legs don’t look like slowing down with 4 in preseason, look for him to be on target tomorrow.

Steve Clarke has made some additions, most promising being youngster Stuart Findlay coming from Newcastle looking to assert himself at the back. This looks to be the first of many weekend haggis affairs and the Scots are a treat for the Aussie neutral for those late nights/early mornings. Ndjoli will be another key man for the home side, one to keep an eye on and Killie’s home advantage will get them over the line in the end. – Big Show

Prediction: 2 – 0

Leeds     Stoke

Leeds (win) v Stoke @ $2.75

Elland Road, 1:30am Monday

Is it finally time for the glory days to return to Elland Road? With the manager most aligned with Le Professor’s ideologies, this is going to be an exciting attack minded season for Leeds. They have looked sharp in attack with only one loss through preseason and an impressive 8 goals in their last 3 games. Our main man Barry Douglas has made the large step from Wolves to Leeds, but unfortunately that beautiful left peg won’t be getting a run out in this game. Bamford hates scoring in the Premier League, but he doesn’t mind banging in a goal in the Championship. There is going to be goals in this game, but with Stoke’s below par preseason and an attack which hasn’t clicked, all the goals are going to be served up by the lads from Elland Road. – Le Professor

Prediction: 3 – 1
