World Cup Sweden

Mexico v Sweden (BTTS) @ $1.83

Ekaterinburg Arena, 4.00am

I’ve taken the safe option in this one. Whilst Mexico have no doubt impressed us all (except with their defending in the 90th vs Korea) the Swede’s have held their own. They were extremely unlucky not to take something out of the Germany game and with a win here, they can progress to the knockout stages with an emphatic victory. This of course will result in Sweden pushing forward, which will play right into the wall builders calloused hands. They will most likely play like they did verse Germany, where they sat deep and allowed their quick front line hit on the counter. There are goals in this game!

Prediction: 2 – 2

South Korea v Germany (win and -2) @ $2.50

Kazan Arena, 12.00am

The Germans have been rather awful this World Cup, but if here is one team which has made the Saudis look like Brazil, it is Korea. They have been absolutely terrible! Germany will want to come out and score a hatful of goals to put the doubters to bed. A strong side will be picked here with nothing less than a win being enough for the Germans. Korea will be unable to exploit Germany’s high fullbacks, which will allow the Germans a lot of time on the ball. A strong showing by Le Professors favourite son, Marcos Reus, will ensure this is a high scoring encounter.

Prediction: 1 – 4

Brazil     Serbia

Brazil (win and BTTS) v Serbia @ $3.30

Otkrytiye Arena, 4.00am

This will be a game worth getting up for. Brazil only need a draw to progress but Serbia need a win. An attacking Serbia will work right into Brazil’s hands. With the pace that their attacking 4 possess, there will be a few Brazilian goals. Serbia are no slouches in front of goal either, they’ve scored in each of their last 15 games. With some big men playing for Serbia an aerial bombardment is on the cards, which is where I can see them jagging a goal. Ultimately, they won’t have enough fire power to get past Brazil.

Prediction: 3 – 1

Switzerland (win to nil) v Costa Rica @ $2.40

Niznhy Novgorod Stadium, 4.00am

It’s fair to say that no one expected anything from Costa Rica and they have not disappointed with some absolutely shit football. Switzerland on the other hand have been entertaining if not a tad lucky. All Switzerland need here is a draw and they progress and hopefully for the Average Punter lads they don’t manage a win with Brazil drawing (with our pending Brazil v Spain to make the final bet). But, I can only see one result. I’m taking Switzerland to win to nil here, this is not only based on my sheer disdain of Costa Rica’s attack but also for the fact that Switzerland only need a draw. They will come out full strength here and with Costa Rica most likely pushing forward to save some dignity from this World Cup, they will be able to jag a goal. I know they have let in two goals, but that’s against two quality sides where they put in a good showing.

Prediction: 1 – 0

$20 @ 42.75 = $855
