World Cup Quarter Finals

The lads have come together for the quarter finals to knock out an in-game multi each and from this, selecting who they think will progress to add to a four leg multi. On top of this, we have also jumped on a special where winning odds are doubled to give us our biggest round spend of the World Cup so far!

Uruguay (to qualify) v France @ $2.80

Nizhny Novgorod Stadium, 12.00am

France are heavy favourites here and as they should be. But they haven’t been overly impressive in this tournament yet. If the Argies had Maradona in goal they would have more than likely made it through as the French defence was penetrated on numerous occasions. Against a side who’s primary tactic is to lock up shop, it will be an extremely difficult task for the French. Uruguay also have a decently talented midfield and if Cavani some how pulls a rabbit out of a hat and is able to play, then they’re a real force. I’m predicting a tight game and then France to absolutely bottle it in extra time.

My reasoning for this multi is simple, France have an impressive attack and whilst Uruguay have an outstanding backline, I still think they will be breached once. Whilst there are some serious doubts regarding Cavani, I still think Uruguay have enough attacking force (Suarez) to bang one in here. The French haven’t been water tight at the back and with a young squad I feel the pressure of a big game will be too much for them to handle.

I know what you’re all thinking, who’s this Laxalt and why is he the only white cunt with cornrows. Well it’s because he’s a bad mother fucker who will love nothing more than to fuck up Mbappe. He’s starting at left back, well at least he has for the last two games, and will be up against some searing pace and quick feet. He won’t mind giving away a few fouls out wide where the French are generally dangerous. – Le Professor

Brazil     Belgium

Brazil (to qualify) v Belgium

Kazan Arena, 4.00am

As much as Belgium have been banging them in in pretty impressive fashion I think they have a few glaring flaws. Using the 3-4-3 in all their games, key man De Bruyne has been deployed in a deep midfield role in which he hasn’t been able to shine. I think this will lead to Coutinho having a great chance to bag a goal with Paulinho’s forward runs creating space for Coutinho around the edge of the box and Wistel not knowing who to track. This was apparent in the Japan game when De Bruyne got lazy and Witsel had to defend two attackers, one of which scoring from the edge of the 18.

I also have questions marks over their wing backs defensive capacity, especially Carrasco who plays a lot higher up the park at club level. This hasn’t really been tested as the only stiff competition they’ve come up against was England where they played a second string side. Brazil has far too much quality out wide and if Belgium’s shape isn’t perfect they’ll get punished.

I’ve got wish BTTS here because even though I think this will be quite comfortable for Brazil, Belgium have more then enough fire power to bag one with goal scorers all over the park as well as the bench. – Yogi

     England

Sweden v England (to qualify) @ $1.44

Samara Arena, 12am

England will fancy their route to the final and have showed that they are more than a meme, football very may well be coming home. Anything can happen in knockout football and this World Cup has already shown that. Sweden have exceeded expectations and shouldn’t be taken lightly. Their standard 4-4-2 complements their squad which looks a much better unit post the Zlatan era. The Swedes organisation and defensive solidarity has been at the foundation of their cup performances so far and with the likes of Forsberg and Berg up top creating chances, they have strung together some impressive results. They’ve also got a knack for winning pens and their big fearless Nordic leader Granqvist loves stepping up to the plate to slot them home.

I initially was thinking England and under 2.5 goals @ $3.40 but with the three lions not having kept a clean sheet, a bit of breathing space for the Swedes to jag one (quite dangerous from set pieces in particular) is worth losing out on a bit of value. Obviously Harry Kane is the main man for the poms here but I think Sterling might prove to be the biggest threat with his pace coming up against a back four not known for their mobility. Whatever the case, these two will carve out chances but I do see this playing out quite cagey in the opening exchanges – a draw half time, England full time bet also not a bad shout.

I’ve gone for Sterling to score, hoping Kane misses out here to help our golden boot bet of Lukaku get across the line. Sweden have done well to get where they are but if anything, I’d love to see some more viral English fan full-time reaction videos if the motherland were to win. – Big Show

     Croatia

Russia v Croatia (to qualify) @ $1.53

Fisht stadium, 4.00am

With the Tour de France just around the corner it’s pretty hard to bet against the PED specialists. You’d think given their track record of sport doping, Russia running faster and further than anyone in the cup would raise some eyebrows and it probably would if this competition wasn’t run by the same ones who will bring you a summer World Cup in Qatar.

I’m pretty confident re: corners here at @ 2.85. Russia sit back and concede possession and hope to break on the counter averaging around 40% in most of their games. If you get up for this game expect Croatia to be camped well inside Russia’s half with Modric and Rakatic going blow for blow looking for a winner. Croatia have gone slightly under the radar this World Cup but with arguably the best midfield in world football and an accomplished striker up top I think this will end a comfortable 1-0 or 2-0.

Football fans have minds like goldfish, yesterday’s 30 million starving to death just outside of where the players line up for tomorrow nights match, is today’s darling of the World Cup. Well lucky its not winter cause nothing else is going to stop our boys marching right on through the eastern front and moving on towards the semi finals. – Conservative Dave
